THE JUHU BEACH PROJECT

Juhu Beach is a 6 km long stretch and its largest access point is restricted to a length of only 200m along Juhu Tara Road.

PHASE 1: 3 ACRES OF NEW BEACH

This phase involves the expansion of Juhu Beach for public use. The concept is to expand the beach by providing a 325m underpass for vehicular traffic under the Juhu Aerodrome. People get access to 3 acres of additional public space free from vehicles, traffic noise, air pollution and encumbrances. All this can be achieved without land acquisition and/or reclamation.

PHASE 2: 385 ACRES OF NEW PARK

This phase envisions a future 385 acre park in lieu of the current Juhu Aerodrome which is a Heliport with zero access to the general public. The Heliport largely serves the offshore and private operations that can be easily relocated.

This park would be completely open to the public and would cost nothing as it already exists, all that is needed is a change in use.

The Park, Juhu beach and the Sea would now be directly accessible from Juhu, Vile Parle, Santacruz and Khar. The Park will cater to the many institutions surrounding it and to the lakhs of people visiting Juhu Beach every week.
