Annual exhibition
The Everyday City
2026: H/W Ward Reimagined · Bombay Arts Society, Bandra · 12–15 February
An annual exhibition on how everyday design, of streets, parks, stations and building rules, shapes life in Mumbai more than any landmark.
The first edition looked closely at H/W Ward: Bandra, Khar and Santacruz West. Original maps, models and data made the city measurable: less than 1 m² of publicly accessible open space per person; floor space growing far faster than open space; and most street space given to private cars, though most journeys are on foot or by public transport.
It was inaugurated by Jackie Shroff, and visited by the Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, MLA Aaditya Thackeray and senior BMC officials. The H/W Ward open-space study was launched by Dia Mirza with Zoru Bhathena, Stalin Dayanand and Anca Florescu Abraham. Daily conversations brought together architects, writers, sportspeople and doctors, among them John Abraham, Dr Danesh Pardiwala, Jitin Paranjpe, Nitin Kilawala, P K Das, Rahul Kadri, Naresh Fernandes and Shormistha Mukherjee.
Entry was free, with guided walks and Draw / Build Your City workshops for children. The exhibition was covered by the Hindustan Times, Mid-Day, Mumbai Mirror and the Times of India.
