Andheri Flyover
A new highway for people and cars, on exactly the same road area as today.
Three junctions at Andheri on the Western Express Highway sit under a 1.2 km, eight-lane flyover built in 2002, leaving the space beneath unusable.
Replacing it with four-lane underpasses frees 6.5 acres for tree-lined promenades on both sides of the central road. Junction widths fall from 60 m to a manageable 30 m, sightlines open up, the outer lanes become bus lanes with stops set into the promenade, and solar power and rainwater harvesting make the scheme sustainable.
The promenades give surrounding neighbourhoods a place to walk, cycle, take transit and meet.
