Linking Road Park

Patwardhan Park

Opening a hidden 3.6-acre park to the street it has always faced.

Patwardhan Park fronts Linking Road but is walled off by a row of street shops. The footpath is taken by the shops, and traffic stops as shoppers spill onto the road.

The Waterfield Road extension exists on plan but is not motorable. The proposal turns it into a 0.2-acre pedestrian plaza that reads as part of the park, and relocates the 96 licensed shops from the park's perimeter, the opposite side and National College into it.

The whole park opens to Linking Road and Road No. 32. Bus stop and traffic island stay as they are; only the Waterfield Road extension is pedestrianised. Residents, shoppers, drivers and the students of Linking Road's colleges all gain direct access to the park.
