Bandra Talao

Extending the edge of a 7.5-acre heritage lake to give Bandra a car-free public space at its heart.

Bandra Talao is a Grade II heritage pond of 7.5 acres. A 350 m underpass for vehicles along the lake lets its edge extend across the street, creating 2 acres of new public space beside the water, free of traffic, noise, pollution and encumbrances.

Traffic keeps flowing below, no land needs to be acquired, and the neighbourhood gains a green open space in the middle of hyper-urbanism.
