Haji Ali – Mahalaxmi

A 30 m road separates 225 acres of racecourse from the Arabian Sea. A 700 m underpass joins them.

The project replaces a single pedestrian signal with a 6-acre public park, open to the sea on the west and to the 225-acre Mahalaxmi Racecourse on the east, by taking vehicles through a 700 m underpass.

It serves the millions who come to the seaface and the visitors to Haji Ali Dargah and Mahalaxmi Temple. The institutional and educational buildings along the front gain a park and the sea, free of traffic, noise and pollution, while their access from the inner road is unchanged.

No land acquisition or reclamation is needed, and the cost is modest.
